FOR STUDY PERMIT APPLICATION
The coronavirus pandemic has caused many application centers close or operate with limitations, leading to the the fact that some Study Permit applicants can not complete three essential components:
- Give biometrics
- Take medical check
- Submit original passport
In light of this situation, the Immigration Department (IRCC) stated that they will not refuse applications that are missing documents due to the coronavirus. Instead, they will keep the application open, and continue to request additional documents or necessary actions from the candidates until they receive the document or are provided with evidence showing that the candidates has fulfilled the requirements of IRCC.
FOR POST GRADUATION WORK PERMIT APPLICATION
The temporary measure mentioned above also applies to PGWP applicants who cannot receive a letter of program completion or a final transcript from their DLI schools.
If international students apply for PGWP before the Study Permit expires, but they cannot complete the application due to the school's closure, they will be allowed to start working full-time until there is a final decision on their applications for PGWP.
However, they should send a letter of explanation, stating that they cannot send the documents required by IRCC due to their school closure. Once they have these documents, they can submit them using the IRCC web form - the support system for communication between Canadian Immigration and immigration candidates.
IRCC also allows students to restore their status without a letter of completion or final transcript. These candidates are not allowed to work while their applications are being processed by IRCC.
