HISTORY OF ESTABLISHMENT

Founded in 1982 by leading Italian designers based on the practical needs of formal training in design field in Milan at the time, Domus Academy (DA) was and is the place for meeting and exchanging ideas between students and lecturers from around the world.

During the academy's first years, under the leadership of leading designers of the time, Ettore Sottsass, Alessandro Mendini, Denis Santachiara, and Philippe Starck, Domus Academy quickly developed a strong reputation internationally. The founders of the school also advocated invitation of leading design companies to initiate practical projects on contemporary design so that students can have the opportunities to approach, work and learn.
